One of my early reviewers asked if my manuscript was an autobiography or a memoir. Another person bluntly asked if I was an exhibitionist. Those were fair and expected questions and others may have the same thoughts.
Posing for drawing and photo classes was my first college job. I took my clothes off, yes all of them, and stepped onto a posing stand in front of about twenty-five of my peers in 1964. I quickly became 100% comfortable being viewed, drawn and photographed while wearing nothing. Modeling for drawing, photography and for various performance art pieces has been a part-time job and hobby for me ever since—I've never stopped. And yes, for those who are wondering, I still pose sans clothing for life drawing groups and photo workshops.
I also worked for more than twenty years as a part-time professional patient for various medical schools. The programs that hired me were for the training of medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and for those studying to become navy corpsmen. My assignments were for "the male exam" which included a thorough visual and tactile examination of the genitals and the prostate. So my nudity was, of course, required for those classes. (It was rare to find other professional patients who would take on this particular assignment so my body was in high demand!)
Given these two pursuits it's safe to assume that the descriptions in the book related to posing for art classes and training of medical students are based on my own experiences.
But what about the rest of the stories in the novel? They are not fiction! They are all my past experiences described as accurately as my memory would allow. All names are made up. Dates, places, schools, businesses and locations are my best guesses. There you have it—I admit it. This story is my story told by Eddie G, the stage name I used for years. Yikes, now you know all about me! Stu
I had an extremely satisfying and productive thirty-five year career as a university professor. During twenty-four of those years I also held the position of public information officer for my local fire department.
My significant writing accomplishments have included four college textbooks, thirty-nine refereed journal articles and twenty workbooks and learning kits for high school students.
My husband and I love living in San Diego. We enjoy the weather, our friends, the cultural opportunities and, of course, the awesome beaches including our well known and beautiful nudist beach. Travel is always high on our to-do list. In addition to writing I do a significant amount of volunteer work in our community.
"Lights On-Clothes Off—Confessions of an Unabashed Exhibitionist," is my first adult book. My next book is tentatively titled, "I'll be Naked at Six."
